Communication, Journalism and Media

PennWest Edinboro is committed to ensuring that students are fully prepared for life in the professional world. That's why we offer fantastic internships and job opportunities for students in the Department of Communication, Journalism and Media.

Internships

Hands-on, real-world experience is hard to beat. PennWest Edinboro recognizes that experiential learning is a valuable tool in helping you to make career decisions and in complementing formal classroom learning.

While some PennWest Edinboro majors require an internship, cooperative education, student teaching or research experience in order to graduate, many students elect to pursue an internship to augment their educational portfolio. Every major has one or more designated internship directors to assist students with identifying opportunities and coordinating credits.

Recent internships in Northwestern Pennsylvania include: Bensur Advertising, Make-A-Wish, Erie County United Way, Erie Office of the Mayor, Erie County Historical Society, American Red Cross, Epic Web Studios, Erie Brewing, Voo Doo Brewing, Erie County Bar Association, LECOM, Logistics Plus, St. Vincent Health Center, the Erie SeaWolves, WJET-TV and WQLN Public Media in Erie.

Internships our majors have completed in other parts of the country include: Atlantic Records Corp. (New York, N.Y.), the Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland, Ohio), Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Clear Channel Communication, Cleveland Dept. of Veterans Affairs (Cleveland, Ohio), ESPN (Bristol, Conn.), Office of the Speaker of the House (Harrisburg, Pa.), Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta (Pittsburgh, Pa.), Opera Cleveland (Cleveland, Ohio), Vail Resorts (Vail, Colo.), Pittsburgh Penguins (Pittsburgh, Pa.), the South Philly Review (Philadelphia, Pa.), Hilton Head Resort (Hilton Head Island, S.C.), and the U.S. Olympic Committee (Colorado Springs, Colo.), among others.
