Jobs & Internships

English and Philosophy

Fantastic jobs and internship opportunities await students in English and Philosophy programs at PennWest Edinboro.

Internships

PennWest Edinboro recognizes that experiential learning is a valuable tool in helping students to make career decisions and in complementing formal classroom learning.

That's why providing excellent internship opportunities is a priority for the University, and the stories of student success in the workplace have been overwhelming. Edinboro students have interned at ESPN, Philadelphia Museum of Art, MTV Studios, UPMC Health Systems, the Smithsonian Institution, Erie Zoo, WJET-TV, National Park Service, Flagship Niagara, Hermitage House Youth Services and many more valuable locations.

While some PennWest Edinboro majors require an internship, cooperative education, student teaching or research experience, many students elect to pursue an internship to augment their educational portfolio. Every major has one or more designated internship directors to assist students with identifying opportunities and coordinating credits.

The Department of English and Philosophy offers internships at Rowman and Littlefield Publishing, VertMarkets Incorporated, Fulton Publishing, the Tom Ridge Center, WQLN Public Media, the Erie Reader, PennWest Edinboro’s Office of Communications and Marketing, and more.

Students who are interested in internship experiences are encouraged to consult the English and Philosophy Professional Development site on D2L and to contact the English and Philosophy Department internship coordinator. Internship opportunities can also be found on Tartan Edge, a database maintained by the Center for Career Development and Experiential Learning .
