Types of Aid

 

PennWest Edinboro's Financial Aid Office does its best to provide you with access to education through financial assistance from state and federal programs, grants, scholarships, loans and work study. We make a conscious effort to reach out to those with exceptional economic need.

Financial aid comes in many forms, including federal and state grant funding, student loan programs, work-study and student employment, as well as numerous merit- and need-based internal and external scholarship opportunities.

The PennWest Edinboro preferred filing deadline for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is Dec. 15. Students who file before this date will receive full consideration for financial aid.

Scholarships

Both merit- and need-based University scholarships and scholarships offered by outside organizations are available to help students offset tuition costs.

Grants

A number of federal and state grants, which are funds that don't need to be repaid, are available to students. Special grant funds also are available to residents of specific areas/cities, other states, to students in certain academic programs and more.

Loans

PennWest Edinboro participates in a number of student loan programs, which allow students and their families to borrow money to pay for educational expenses.

Work-Study and Student Employment

To help offset tuition and other costs, PennWest Edinboro offers part-time employment to degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled half-time or greater.

Benefits for Veterans

PennWest Edinboro participates in a number of federal aid programs that allow veterans to earn a degree at little to no cost.
