As you work toward your degree in Psychology, you'll learn how to think critically
and work as a member of a team while you strengthen your written, oral and interpersonal
communication skills. You'll graduate well prepared for employment in your field or
for advanced studies at the master's or doctorate level.
Twelve full-time faculty provide expertise across major areas of psychology. They work closely with you to understand your specific interests, strengths and skills, and help you chart a course for success.
As a student, you'll have the opportunity for an intensive, semester-long internship
that allows you to gain a depth of knowledge in a particular field. In addition, with
no graduate students, undergraduates have many opportunities to conduct research with
a faculty mentor and present at regional and national scientific conferences.
Careers in the field of psychology are as diverse as the study of psychology itself. Whether you're interested in child development, treatment of mental illness, the way businesses operate, how crimes are solved or even how athletes are coached, psychology plays a significant role. At Edinboro, you will follow a plan of study that matches your personal interests and leads to careers in fields such as:
You'll build a strong foundation for working with children, adults or both as you prepare to enter the workforce as a mental health professional or to go on to graduate school for an advanced degree in Clinical Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, Art Therapy, School Psychology and more.
If you're interested in becoming a physician or psychiatrist, or pursuing a career in neuroscience, cognitive science or health professions, you can take advantage of Edinboro's exceptional resources including an animal lab and active research laboratories in cognition, behavioral pharmacology and behavioral endocrinology.
Customize your Psychology coursework with specific electives that will expand your knowledge and prepare you for engaging opportunities in forensic psychology, law, military and law enforcement, probation and parole, and correctional counseling.
