          Making sure Edinboro University students are fully prepared for the professional world is a priority for the University, as the many fantastic internship opportunities available to Mathematics and Computer Science Department students and notable career achievements of alumni continue to prove.

          Hands-on, real-world experience is hard to beat. Edinboro University recognizes that experiential learning is a valuable tool in helping students to make career decisions and in complementing formal classroom learning. 

          Providing excellent internship opportunities is a priority for the University, and the stories of student success in the workplace have been overwhelming. Edinboro Math and Computer Science students have interned at Idaho National Lab, Argonne National Lab, Erie Insurance, The Ladders in New York City, Liberty Electronics, Wal-Mart headquarters in Arkansas, Community Resources for Independence, Federal Express, Pennsylvania Department of Corrections, Plastek, Lord Corporation, Hamot Hospital, Thiel College, Crawford County Information Technology Services, Northwest Savings Bank, State Farm Insurance and many more locations. 

          While some Edinboro University majors require an internship, cooperative education, student teaching or research experience, many students elect to pursue an internship to augment their educational portfolio. Every major has one or more designated internship directors to assist students with identifying opportunities and coordinating credits.

          The EU Center for Career Development assists students at the onset of their professional lives with many outstanding services, including building resume, interviewing and networking skills and offering numerous job fair opportunities annually both on- and off-campus.

            • Dr. Paul Riccomini 93/99, BA Mathematics/MEd Special Education, is a professor of Special Education at Penn State University, University Park, Pa.
            • Niraj Balasaria ’91, BS Computer Science, is the owner and CEO of Petron Pacific, Inc.
            • James R. Stevens ’85, BS Computer Science, is a principal consultant at CIBER, Inc., an international computer consulting firm.
            • Mike Zafirovski ’75, BA in Mathematics, is founder and president of The Zaf Group, a consulting and investment firm, Lake Forest, Illinois, and a visiting lecturer at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
