          Parents and Families Organization

Students and parents moving into the dorms

The Parents and Families Organization (PFO) is the resource for parents and families who have students enrolled at Edinboro University. We can help you adjust as your children leave home to pursue higher education by providing outreach through our Letters from Home series during Welcome Week, Care Package and Linens program opportunities and family events during Homecoming Weekend.

Involvement of parents and family members with our students is essential to student achievement and success. We strive to keep the lines of communication open and to engage family members in campus events, promote fellowship among families, and explore opportunities for networking and stewardship to further support student opportunities and success. We also encourage your student to become fully involved in campus life and the opportunities that are available. Because students share their concerns with family members, especially early on in their college experience, the feedback from parents and families is invaluable. By sharing information and opening the lines of communication with parents and family members and by encouraging them to become familiar with our campus and resources, we are better able to serve all of our students and to help them achieve excellence.

Jointly coordinated with Student Affairs and Advancement, PFO is proud to provide parents and families with the contact, support, and answers they need. Email to ask any questions, voice your concerns, or even to express interest in joining the steering committee if you are interested in developing the organization.

The menu to your left will give you access to different resources and information surrounding your visit to Edinboro University, events that will occur for your benefit, and programs in place to show your children you’re thinking of them as they attend classes.

The Purpose and Goals of PFO

The purpose of the Parents and Families Organization is to promote positive parent and family associations with the University and to provide a forum for the expression of parent and family views and suggestions. Our goals are:

          • To value the contributions of parents and family members in support of their students and the University
          • To provide an advocacy and a communication link between the University, present and future students and their parents and family members
          • To encourage members of the Parents and Families Organization to serve as goodwill ambassadors for the University

Who may be members? All parents and family members of students currently enrolled are automatically members of the organization. Activities are planned and organized by a small steering committee of volunteers. Those who continue to show an interest after their family member has graduated may remain a part of the organization.
