Building on the strengths of Edinboro's renowned Honors Program, the Honors College introduces a curriculum offered exclusively to Honors students. Interdisciplinary Honors seminars, taught by outstanding faculty, explore topics that connect your academic experiences to broader questions about your place in the larger world - as members of a global society, as consumers and creators of arts and culture, and as stewards of the natural systems that shape our planet. The seminars focus on important and timely social, scientific and ethical issues.
As an Honors student, you will complete semester- or year-long research or creative projects, present your work at regional or national conferences and pursue publication in peer-reviewed academic journals. Recent projects range from the study of traumatic brain injury in the National Football League to designing and creating functional, beautiful furniture for people with limited mobility.
Working to benefit the campus and local community, Honors students design and take the lead on regional community service projects, such as initiating a pen-pal project with a local high school, assisting with the Academic Decathlon and working with University food service to create an organic vegetable garden on campus.
Honors students study and serve nationally or abroad for a summer, semester or full
academic year. For example, Honors graduate Jacob Trinca, a Secondary Education -
Social Studies major, was selected to represent Edinboro on a Pennsylvania State System
of Higher Education Honors trip to Vienna and Sarajevo, where he traveled, participated
in community service, and learned about navigating a new culture.
Only incoming high school graduates admitted to the Honors College are eligible for
renewable Honors College Academic Scholarships or one-time Housing Waiver scholarships. These awards are in addition to the one-time
$1,000 Honors College Award Scholarships.
