Music and Theatre
Are you an experienced vocalist or enjoy playing a particular instrument? Then you should share your talents as you participate in one of the many musical ensembles, choirs and bands at Edinboro University.
Our Music and Theatre Department offers many exciting musical opportunities for students. Regardless of your major, you can help promote the art of music in the cultural, artistic and intellectual life of the University and its surrounding communities through our talented ensembles.
The University Singers is the 50-voice concert choir of Edinboro University. Membership is open to all students. The repertoire of University Singers is wide-ranging and eclectic, spanning from the 16th century to the present, and representing the mainstream of the choral repertoire. The University Singers maintain an active performance schedule, both on and off campus, formal and informal. For information, contact Cody Mott at firstname.lastname@example.org or 814-732-1218.
The Edinboro University Pipe Band is a student- and community-based organization committed to the promotion and development of the Scottish arts. The ensemble is open to both students and interested persons in the campus and surrounding communities. Bagpipe lessons are available for credit to students, staff, and faculty, as well as through the Community Music School.
The Edinboro University Pipe Band was formed in 1992. Mr. Bruce Best (then-piping instructor) and Dr. Tim Cordell (then-marching band director) were instrumental in its formation. A few enthusiastic students made up this first group and began a tradition that remains to this day. For more information, contact Pipe Band Director, Mr. Sean Patrick Regan, at TheBagpiper@edinboro.edu.
The Spirit of the Scots Marching Band performs at various campus activities, football games and area band shows during the fall semester. The band consists of winds, percussion and guard (flags and dancers). Students can earn one academic credit for participating in marching band. We are very much looking forward to returning to the field in Fall 2021! For more information, contact Diann Smith at email@example.com.
The Concert Band consists of musicians from all departments on campus. Membership is open to all students regardless of major. The Concert Band performs the finest repertoire in original band music as well as transcriptions. For more information, contact Chuck Lute at firstname.lastname@example.org or 814-732-2797.
The Jazz Ensemble is a performance organization which plays the finest jazz repertory available. With membership of approximately 20 students, the ensemble presents concerts throughout the year, on and off campus. Membership is open to all students, and auditions are held during the first week of classes each semester. For more information, contact Chuck Lute at email@example.com or 814-732-2797.
