Nurse practitioners are a major solution to the primary care shortage our country faces. Edinboro University has partnered with Clarion University to develop one of the best online MSN programs, so you can fill an important health-care need as a family nurse practitioner.
Edinboro and Clarion Universities' Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner program is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.
This Master of Science in Nursing-Family Nurse Practitioner Program (MSN-FNP) is designed to educate primary care providers needed for today's changing health care environment. The program focuses on providing family-focused primary health care to individuals in diverse and often underserved communities.
Our faculty are skilled clinicians and educators who are committed to providing sound
academic and clinical experiences. Graduates are ready to practice in their new role
as a FNP with a strong evidence-based practice foundation and confidence in their
ability to deliver excellent care.
According to the 2019 U.S. News & World Report, our online MSN program ranked 35 in the country for Best Online Master's in Nursing based on graduation rates, academic and career support services and admissions selectivity.
In addition, NurseJournal.org ranks Edinboro's MSN among America's Best Nursing Programs
in the East.
Courses are delivered online with synchronous and asynchronous instruction, with the exception of clinical practice.
This 49-credit program includes 600 hours of clinical practice.
You will be assigned an academic advisor and have access to the facilities and services of both Edinboro and Clarion.
As a graduate, you will be prepared to provide primary care to patients across the lifespan in urban, surburban and rural communities, and are eligible to apply to the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing for legal certification as a certified registered nurse practitioner (CRNP) in family health after passing professional certification exams through either the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
Graduates of the program receive a joint degree granted by both universities.
